Vern Malloch, a 35 year veteran of the Portland Police Department, has been appointed director of compliance for Maine’s newly created Office of Marijuana Policy.

“I’ve got a lot to learn, but I’m excited about the challenge,” Malloch said. “I’m not for or against [cannabis], as a person, but the voters approved it, state law was changed and now it’s the responsibility of government to facilitate it, make it successful. You do that with good policy and good implementation.”

Trulieve made several changes to its management team in October. Kevin Darmody no longer serves as chief operating officer and no replacement COO has been hired. Darmody’s duties have been split between Tim Morey and Kyle Landrum, Trulieve’s new chief sales officer and new chief production officer, respectively.

“In this customer facing role, Tim has been key to our continued success in rolling out dispensaries in Florida,” said Trulieve Chief Executive Officer Kim Rivers. “His contributions have allowed us to meet our expansion goals while maintaining our commitment to a positive patient experience.”

“Under Kyle’s leadership, Trulieve has established the largest cultivation operation in Florida, allowing for our continued dominance of the market,” Rivers continued. “Kyle is an asset to the company, and we look forward to his continued application of management skill to our entire production operations.”

Morey formerly served as Trulieve’s director of retail while Landrum occupied the role of director of cultivation.

FSD Pharma has appointed former U.S. congressman Stephen Buyer to its board of directors. Buyer served as chairman of the committee on Veterans Affairs for the 109th Congress and as the ranking minority member for the 110th and 111th Congresses. Prior to his tenure in Congress, Buyer served as a special assistant United States attorney, Indiana deputy attorney general, and engaged in private law practice.

“Steve’s addition has further strengthened the independence and profile of the FSD Pharma board of directors,” said Raza Bokhari, executive co-chairman and chief executive officer at FSD. “His broad leadership experience and pharmaceutical industry relationships will help enhance our visibility, especially among U.S. Institutional investors and on U.S. Capitol Hill.”
