Advanced Nutrients

Advanced Nutrients is a privately held plant-nutrition company specializing in cannabis-specific fertilizers, biostimulants, biologicals, and cultivation systems, best known for its pH Perfect® Technology and research-driven approach to cannabis cultivation.

Advanced Nutrients was founded in 1999 by Michael “BigMike” Straumietis to develop plant nutrition specifically for cannabis at a time when most mainstream fertilizer companies avoided direct association with the crop. Straumietis, a cultivator before founding the company, built the business around cannabis-specific research, nutrient formulation, and controlled-environment growing.

The company develops base fertilizers, biostimulants, biologicals, and related cultivation products for hydroponic, soil, coco coir, and organic growing systems. Its best-known innovation is pH Perfect® Technology, a proprietary nutrient-management system designed to stabilize nutrient-solution pH through buffering and chelation, reducing the need for manual pH adjustment when used as directed. The technology is incorporated across several Advanced Nutrients feeding programs.

Research has been a central component of the company’s development. In 2004, Advanced Nutrients began collaborating with the University of Mississippi on cannabis research, and the company has continued to position plant science, nutrient uptake, and crop-specific formulation as core areas of research and development. Advanced Nutrients serves commercial and home cultivators through international distribution partners, authorized retailers, and cultivation-support resources.

Humanity Heroes is a nonprofit founded by Straumietis in 2016. The organization focuses on direct assistance for unhoused individuals and communities affected by natural disasters and other hardships, distributing essential supplies through outreach programs and partner organizations. Advanced Nutrients supports and promotes Humanity Heroes as its primary philanthropic initiative.
