Rodman on a mission to offer a peace pipe in Pyongyang?
CYBERSPACE–Media outlets besieged controversial reality/basketball star Dennis Rodman on his arrival yesterday in Beijing, China, before arriving in North Korea for a visit with Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. Cannabis crypto-currency company PotCoin is behind Rodman’s sudden trip to North Korea, according to a press release posted to the PotCoin website on June 13.
In this Today Show/NBC News video, Rodman and an unnamed traveling companion, both decked out in PotCoin promotional gear, walked through a crowd of reporters in the Beijing airport. Rodman told media he hoped to “open a door” with Jong Un. He also hinted that President Donald Trump was “happy” with the effort and that he would try to accomplish something needed by both leaders.

While the sponsorship may seem to some like a grab at global headlines for PotCoin, Rodman was quoted in the company press release and said, “I’m really looking forward to spending time with the wonderful people of North Korea and, of course, visiting with the Supreme Leader, Kim Jong Un.”
“I want to thank the folks at PotCoin” Rodman added, “They realized the importance of this trip and made it all possible for me.”
PotWallet.com also posted this video to YouTube, featuring Rodman and friend (who is unnamed in the video’s credits), when Rodman expresses his appreciation for support of the potentially “historic” trip.

Both the press release and the video noted that Rodman might be the only person on earth to be “good friends” with both Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and President Trump. Rodman appeared twice on “The Apprentice,” and was “fired” both times. In 2015, Rodman tweeted his support for Trump, when Trump announced his candidacy. This is Rodman’s fifth trip to communist North Korea, where he has famously befriended basketball fan Jong Un.
Media reports indicated there has been no confirmation Rodman has had any contact regarding North Korea with now-President Trump since appearing on “The Apprentice” or prior to this latest trip. Others speculated that Trump may be attempting to establish a “back channel” of communication with the North Korean leader, with Rodman as an emissary.
PotCoin is “digital currency created to facilitate transactions within the legalized cannabis industry.” A request for comment from mgRetailer to PotCoin was not responded to by post time.
