Walt Disney World went out of its way to announce that marijuana is not permitted on the grounds of their theme parks.

On Election Day 2016, Florida residents overwhelmingly approved Measure 2 and legalized the medicinal use of marijuana.

Unfortunately, Florida marijuana patients looking to make Disney their “happiest place on Earth” may be out of luck. While Disney has never condoned marijuana use at their Orlando park, they finally now have an official policy against it.

“Although some states have legalized marijuana for medicinal or recreational use, marijuana remains illegal under federal law, a spokesperson for Disney told WESH-TV. “We are revising our rules to clarify that marijuana is not permitted on our property.”

While it is no surprise that the entertainment giant has this policy on their books, some were not thrilled with Disney’s announcement.

“So for instance, if someone has a vaporizing pen in their purse, what makes that different than a pill of Oxycontin in their purse, and should people be treated differently?” Attorney and marijuana advocate Matt Morgan told WESH. “But to the extent that they’d go through someone’s personal belongings to search for that, I think that’s when the public might start having an issue with it.”

Medical marijuana is legal inn 29 states while recreational use is permitted in 8 states. The Florida regulations for medical marijuana are being finalized by state lawmakers.
