The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs is offering educational forums for entrepreneurs looking to get into the state’s medical marijuana industry.

Those looking to break into the medical marijuana industry in Michigan may get help from an unlikely source, Michigan authorities. The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will hold 5 educational meetings next month to advise potential entrepreneurs as to how they can get involved in the industry.

The meetings will be set up to show attendees how to properly apply for a license and how to navigate the state’s seed to sale system that will track marijuana from the time its planted to when it hits dispensary shelves.

There will be 5 categories for licensing under the Michigan medical marijuana program including retail, growing, transporting, processing, and testing. The meetings will be held for free. However, there will likely be fees associated with applying for the actual licenses. Michigan will begin fielding applications for medical marijuana licenses beginning on December 15.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at:

  • Nov. 8, Oakland Community College, 27055 Orchard Lake Road, Farmington Hills
  • Nov. 9, Saginaw Valley State University, 7400 Bay Road, University Center
  • Nov. 13, Great Wolf Lodge, 3575 North US Highway 31 South, Traverse City
  • Nov. 14, Wing’s Conference Center, 3600 Vanrick Drive, Kalamazoo
  • Nov. 15, Kellogg Conference Center, 219 South Harrison Road, East Lansing
