PAX Celebrates 4/20 with Statue of Liberty Look at “Let There Be Light” Fashion Show in NYC

PAX celebrates New York expansion at Let There Be Light, a 4/20 fashion show at the newly opened, experiential House of Cannabis in SoHo, hosted by cult-favorite smokewear and cannabis brand Sundae School and of which PAX is the presenting sponsor — featuring limited-edition sneaker collaboration with renowned international artist Stan Birch.

On April 20th in New York City, Sundae School, the craft cannabis and smokewear brand, staged its first-ever runway show at The House of Cannabis to commemorate New York’s first legal 4/20. Cannabis brand PAX was the presenting sponsor.

The show, entitled “Let There Be Light,” features a series of vignettes that founder and creative director Dae Lim calls cannabis couture – bespoke, one-of-a-kind looks that exemplify the various ways that New Yorkers, and only New Yorkers, find their “light” in different avenues of life.

VIP guests included: Chase Sui Wonders, Ella Emhoff, Thug Min, Celeste Yim and Willa Bennett, Peter Ash Lee, Davis Burleson, Kate Galvan, Oscar Nunes of Papi Juice, DeVonn Francis.

The show featured 20 models from its community of Honor Rollers, chosen from thousands who turned out for open casting calls in New York.

All looks in the “Let There Be Light” show were made by Sundae School’s all-Korean design team. From the PAX Statue of Liberty and the NYC Marathon runner, to the Wall Street trashbag and “Depop link in bio girl,” all of New York’s icons are reimagined to reflect the many experiences, phases – and highs – of living in NYC.

Key pieces include: PAX Statue of Liberty wearing a crown of turquoise Pax Eras featuring handmade PAX x Stan Birch collaboration Nike Dunk Low sneakers by FLOU Customs, “the blunt puffer,” a diagonally quilted long puffer jacket paired with Broccoli print morph suit, “the construction corset,” and “the Prospect Park Ghillie suit” with real Cannabis flowers sewn on for full camouflage. Graphics riff off iconic elements of NYC street culture – from Sabrett stands on Broadway to construction signs in Williamsburg.

In true New Yorker fashion, select looks were styled with designer accessories from The RealReal, including watches, footwear, sunglasses and bags.

Like all in the Sundae School universe, the collection is inspired by Korean culture and traditional garments like the hanbok, while paying homage to the brand’s streetwear beginnings. True to Sundae School’s graphic language, prints ironically juxtapose cannabis and Korean cultures. The finale look is a graduation gown inspired by Hanbok Chima (한복치마) paying homage to the Korean women who have raised the SS team to be their higher selves.

“Let There Be Light” took place at The House of Cannabis (THCNYC), the first-ever, multi-sensory, immersive experience journeying guests through cannabis culture, located in SoHo. Spanning 5 floors and over 30,000 square feet, this interactive journey showcases 10 transportive experiences created by leading artists and filmmakers, weaving together cannabis’ connection to fashion, music, art, pop culture, and agriculture in a unique and compelling way.

“Let There Be Light” was made possible by partners PAX, Nabis, Merrell, and BLOOM with additional support from Dieux, TheRealReal, On The Revel and Flan.
