WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Council for Federal Cannabis Regulation (CFCR) announced today that their next monthly webinar, scheduled for this coming Thursday, February 23 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. ET, will focus on the Opportunities and Challenges associated with Federal Hemp Cannabinoid Regulations.
With Cannabis and CBD regulation moving across various government agencies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued its guidelines during a landmark session late last month. To shed light and provide clarity on the complexity of these issues, as well as to highlight the opportunities and associated challenges, this month’s CFCR webinar will turn to a trio of experts to provide their unique perspectives. This panel of presenters includes a member of the CFCR Science and Regulatory Affairs Committee, a Regulatory Affairs Expert and an FDA official, all delivered within the framework of an interactive forum designed to educate the industry, while working with federal agencies, in order to elicit an exchange of information with Council constituents. Panelists will include Norman Birenbaum, Senior Public Health Advisor at the FDA, Scott Riefler, Chief Science Officer for SōRSE Technology and Chris Murray, Principal of FoxNRTH, Inc.
Since its official launch two years ago, CFCR has emerged as a trusted steward, cutting through the noise and misinformation while communicating and educating stakeholders within both the government and the general public. It is critical the industry understands the processes and limitations of federal government agencies, and that the federal government understands the challenges facing the industry in order to create a safe and sensible regulatory framework, which is CFCR’s mission.
The February webinar will feature Sheri Orlowitz, Chair of the Board for CFCR who will co-host the production along with Council Advisory Board Member Jack Jacobson, a cannabis, energy and education practices advisor for Thompson Coburn LLC.
CFCR’s monthly webinars take place on the last Thursday of every month (depending on holidays), each one spotlighting a wide range of industry professionals, with a focus on preparing and educating the industry, as governmental agencies work to create a legal pathway for cannabis products in the marketplace. Each webinar will consist of a 40-minute interactive conversation followed by approximately 20-minutes of moderated audience Q&A for a total run-time of approximately one hour.
