LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. – Gelato Canna Co., one of the most recognized cannabis brands in California and Michigan, will host its third-annual giveaway of 700 Thanksgiving turkeys at its eponymous Lake Elsinore dispensary. The giveaway will start Saturday, November 23, and continue while supplies last. Similar to previous years’ giveaway, there is no purchase necessary to receive a turkey, and the giveaway will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Gelato’s Lake Elsinore retail location serves over 250 customers daily. Given the huge success of the past two years’ turkey giveaways, which saw over 1,000 customers in a single day, Gelato will continue the annual event. Unlike other giveaways where patrons are required to make a purchase in order to receive a prize, Gelato has focused its efforts on people over profit.
“We don’t want anyone to feel pressured to make a purchase in order to receive a turkey,” said Nathan Sadler, Operating Partner at Gelato Dispensary. “We love our Lake Elsinore community and they continue to show up for us, so we are committed to doing the same for them. This is just a small gesture to show our appreciation.”
Gelato is no stranger to philanthropic endeavors as Sadler and his father, Gelato co-founder and CEO George Sadler, and brother Cody Sadler, Gelato’s CFO and co-founder, have hosted a variety of charity events throughout their decade-long tenure as cannabis entrepreneurs. Earlier this month, Gelato employees went to downtown San Diego and handed out food, water, hygiene kits, blankets, socks, and other items to the unhoused. Continuing the 700 Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway is the latest example of the Sadlers practicing what they preach.
“The holiday season can be a stressful time for many,” said Nathan. “Given the success of last year’s turkey giveaway we thought it only natural to continue and make this event a Gelato tradition. We’re fortunate to be in a spot where we can help so many families during this special time of year.”
