As the battle rages to protect the rights of consumers to grow their own cannabis at home, Michigan’s premier cannabis provisioner, Pure Options (www.pureoptions.com), is excited to announce they are the first provisioning center in the state with the ability to sell cannabis plant clones to the public. In honor of this recognition, Pure Options is dropping two exclusive strains of premium clones — highly coveted Kush Mints and Watermelon Zkittles — for free.  On November 26, 2021, beginning at 9 am, every customer that purchases $50 in Pure Options flower, Pure Options pre-rolls, or Northcoast Extracts concentrates and/or cartridges will receive a one-time use coupon code to order one clone plant of their choice online (while supplies last). The free clone must be pre-ordered by November 28. The small-batch inventory of 200 clones will only be available on PureClones.com <http://pureclones.com/> and customers must pick up their plants in person at the Pure Options Frandor Provisioning Center, located at 125 N Clippert Street in Lansing, Mich. beginning on December 1.  Customers will have 48 hours to pick up their clone.  (Customers who do not pick up their plant during the specified time period will lose their free clone during this promotion.)  Clones will be available to order for the general public beginning November 29.

In this new capability, PURE OPTIONS will be able to sell clones, marketing to DIY customers who are more interested in the product and process of growing cannabis independently of larger cultivators in the state. This focus on the heritage and craft of home growing — and the supportive home caregivers who use cannabis as part of their treatment — is the impetus for the Black Friday drop.

While Pure Options is one of Michigan’s fastest-growing cannabis provisioning centers, founder Sam Usman Jr., openly champions the industry’s homegrown cannabis movement. “We are not threatened by people growing their own cannabis plants,” he says. “In fact, we welcome this new avenue for our customers. Our team finds it to be fun and exciting, and we look at it as opening access to the people. The customer who buys clones is a different customer than the one who buys cannabis from us. They may consume more, and they are more enthusiastic about the product and the process. We want people to grow cannabis at home and we are going to help facilitate the experience through the sale of clones. Other organizations are actively fighting to keep home growers out of the process.”

Usman is on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association (MiCIA.com), a grassroots organization functioning as the voice for the state’s legal cannabis businesses, taking an opposing position to other state organizations like the Michigan Cannabis Manufacturers Association that advocates to prevent individuals from growing their own product.

“We’re excited that PURE OPTIONS’ amazing genetics will be available to all home growers and caregivers,” said Robin Schneider, Executive Director of the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association.  “MICIA is proud to partner with PURE OPTIONS in supporting the rights of Michiganders to grow cannabis at home.”

Pure Options is the first provisioning center approved to sell clones in the State of Michigan after recreational cannabis use was permitted in 2019. Its facility is also one of the first in the state to receive the Good Agricultural and Collection Practices certification, representing the company’s fastidious standards of quality and consistency for cannabis propagation, cultivation, and post-harvest processes. Pure Options also offers a one-page “how to care for your clone” guide as part of its focus on encouraging DIY growers, but also as part of the founders’ personal passions for social equity.

The two available strains include:

  • Kush Mints (Hybrid), a Seed Junky Genetics cultivar bred by crossing Bubba Kush and Animal Mints. An evenly balanced hybrid blessed with a delicious flavor reminiscent of earthy mint cookies, Kush Mints is said to stimulate the appetite, so keep snacks close at hand. Other reported effects include stress relief, relaxation, and body tingles. This strain tests up to 33% THC and historically produces heavy yields. 100 plants available for Black Friday.
  • Watermelon Zkittles (Indica), prized for putting your head in the clouds and your body on the couch. Both medical and adult-use consumers love the mouthwatering flavor and the intense effects of this dynamic indica. Onset comes quickly: As your body relaxes, the giggles rise, leaving you in a blissful state of euphoria. Strain tests up to 28% THC, and historically produces heavy yields. 100 plants available for Black Friday.

As part of Pure Options’ stance on social equity, the company is also committed to helping eligible individuals remove cannabis-related convictions from their public records, in accordance with Michigan’s “Clean Slate” law. Pure Options’ in-house legal team will host expungement assistance, which will provide resources and advice on the expungement process on a quarterly basis at its flagship store located at 125 N. Clippert Street, Lansing, Mich. (Join the Pure Options expungement mailing list on the website to learn about appointments and walk-in dates.)
