FALL RIVER, Mass. — As back-to-school season approaches, one Fall River cannabis dispensary is stepping up to support the people who step up for students year after year: local educators.
The Agriculturalist, a locally owned cannabis dispensary rooted in quality and community, has launched its Rooted in Community campaign with a focus on teachers, counselors, and school staff.
Through its new Educator Support Initiative, the dispensary will provide direct assistance to five local education professionals — selected at random from community nominations — to help cover their classroom and student needs this fall.
The initiative is about more than goodwill. According to the National Education Association, 94% of public school teachers report spending their own money on classroom supplies without reimbursement. In Massachusetts, where public school funding can vary drastically between districts, many educators face tough choices between their financial well-being and their students’ success. The Agriculturalist aims to ease that burden, even in a small way, while raising awareness about the everyday sacrifices educators make.
“We know how hard educators work and how often they quietly reach into their own wallets to make sure their students have what they need,” said Colin Geoffroy, founder of The Agriculturalist. “This initiative is our way of saying we see you, we value you, and we’re here to support you.”
The dispensary is accepting nominations through August 15 and encourages community members to nominate an educator who’s made a difference. Five recipients will be randomly selected and provided with personalized support for back-to-school essentials, whether that’s supplies for their classroom, materials for student projects, or anything else that helps them start the school year strong.
