VANCOUVER, Canada – O.G. cannabis icon and entrepreneur Tommy Chong has struck a licensing deal with cannabis producer Hollister Biosciences Inc., aka Hollister Cannabis Company (CSE: HOLL, FRANKFURT: HOB), to produce and distribute Tommy Chong’s Cannabis™ Full Spectrum Elixir 1:1.
The tincture will contain equal parts THC and CBD extracts, derived from premium California-grown cannabis and processed, by Hollister, in small batches.
“I only partner with the best-in-class companies and I am really pleased to have the Hollister Cannabis Co. bring their amazing Tommy Chong’s Cannabis™ Full Spectrum Elixir to the market for me,” Tommy Chong said in a press release.
Chong, with comedy partner Richard “Cheech” Marin, formed the seminal stoner duo Cheech and Chong that defined cannabis culture for the ‘70s generation with 1972 comedy album Big Bambú, and consequent marijuana-themed box office hits Up In Smoke and Nice Dreams, among others.
In 2003, Chong was sentenced to nine months in federal prison for selling bongs through the mail. In fact, he recently advised parents charged in the college admissions scandal, including Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, to “relax,” because federal prison isn’t that bad (and we believe him btw).
In any case, it’s no longer 2003. Chong, it should be noted, is a two-time cancer survivor that attributes his recovery, in part, to medicinal cannabis.
“We are honored and excited to be partners with such a legendary and iconic star as Tommy Chong,” Hollister Cannabis Co. Chief Executive Officer Carl Saling said in the announcement. “Tommy has experienced the medical benefits of cannabis and we are looking forward to working together to launch Tommy Chong’s Cannabis Full Spectrum Elixir into the California legal cannabis marketplace.”
