The 2nd annual Mendocino Craft Farmers Auction (MCFA) was held in June for a good cause. The event was hosted by Jim Roberts and Brian Adkinson of The Bohemian Chemist, who donated their beautiful venue at The Brambles in the heart of the picturesque Anderson Valley in Mendocino County.
MCFA is a private charity auction, with proceeds going to support local Mendocino charities. This year, the recipients included the Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino and the Mendocino Land Trust, which each received $6,000.
The auction is an opportunity for the cannabis community of Mendocino to give back to the broader community, while at the same time raising consciousness about the cannabis produced in the region and the incredible people who make it all happen. Auction items included exotic adventures to Jamaica and Guatemala, hotel stays on the Mendocino coast, Lake Tahoe, and Humboldt County, fine art pieces, farm tours, handcrafted goods, and more. Winning bidders had their generosity matched by growers who shared flowers from their Private Reserve personal gardens.
Guests gathered for the silent auction, which included hits on the hookah brought by Frenchy Cannoli’s wife Kimberly, wine donated by Alder Springs Vineyard, tasty hors d’oeuvres, and Bella the Joint Girl passing around her popular tray full of Mendo-grown flowers. Several farmers were on hand to mingle with guests and share stories and smokes. The elegant supper under the redwoods was followed by the very lively Live Auction segment of the evening. The event wrapped up with dancing under the stars to the beats of DJ Zack Darling.
