Earlier this month, in honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s Month, Tali Eisenberg and Geter Done Productions presented the Bay Area premiere screening of Windy Borman’s award-winning film, ‘Mary Janes: The Women of Weed’ in Oakland. The screening was followed by a Cannabis Marketplace and Community Social, showcasing female owned and led companies and brand allies. It was an evening of celebration–and resolve to do more. “The statistics for senior leadership actually went down during the production of the film,” Borman told SF Evergreen, a dip she blames on the bias of venture-capital investment. “By the time the film came out, it had dipped to 27 percent. From 36 to 27, in 18 months.” But she’s still optimistic. “There’s still so much opportunity in cannabis,” Borman said. “Women see that. Women are smart.”
