SUNLAND PARK, NM — Mango Cannabis, which claims to be the largest cannabis retailer in the state of New Mexico, will host what it believes to be the industry’s first full-fledged music festival to take place at a dispensary June 22 in Sunland Park, New Mexico. Headliners include hip-hop artists That Mexican OT, OhGeesy, Paul Wall, Baby Bash, and Play-N-Skillz with opening performances by Krystall Poppin, Natalie, Coyote, and El Dusty. In addition, comedians Chingo Bling and Anthony A. as well as DJ Fat Fingaz will perform. An art exhibit by Mr. Melty also will be part of the festivities. The festival will be hosted by DJ, musician, and actor Julio G.
The two-part celebration will kick off with a high-energy morning party, lasting all the way into the early afternoon. Think live music, vendor booths, food trucks, and activations from brand partners. As the sun sets, the music festival will take over, bringing live performances right to the retailer’s adjacent lot. Like many other music festivals, guests may purchase alcohol on the festival grounds. In addition to the day-long celebration of music and food, Mango intends to give away 2,000 exclusive goody bags throughout the day.
“We wanted to do something that’s never been done before,” said Kevin Pattah, Mango’s CEO and co-founder. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Sunland Park and its surrounding communities than to combine two mediums that bring people together: music and cannabis.”
Mango tapped Albuquerque-based marketing and promotions firm Fusion Promotions to bring their vision to life. Owners Julio Ruiz and Damian Barth have over 40 years of combined experience working with the music industry’s biggest artists.
“We’ve produced so many events over the years but Mango Del Sol will be a truly unique experience, not just for the festival-goers but for Fusion as well,” said Ruiz, Vice President of Fusion Promotions. “Partnering with a cannabis company is a novel concept in our field and we’re excited to lay the groundwork for this new era in entertainment.”
Based in Oklahoma, Mango is expanding its footprint throughout the US, with stores in Michigan, New York and New Mexico.
“If everything goes according to plan, we hope to make Mango Del Sol a yearly event,” said Chief Marketing Officer and co-founder Jonathon Pattah. “Mango is always trying to push the envelope and set a new standard for cannabis retailers and, of course, add some fun to the mix.”
Cannabis consumption will not be allowed on the premises. Customers will be granted entry to the festival upon a product purchase of $50 or more or a purchased ticket. The event is 21+.
