A highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Mary Bailey, Managing Director of the Last Prisoner Project (LPP). In her powerful remarks, Bailey addressed the human cost of cannabis prohibition and shared LPP’s mission to restore freedom, dignity, and opportunity to those who have suffered under unjust drug policies.

During the CannaPortugal Global Cannabis Awards ceremony on May 16, Last Prisoner Project was recognized for its relentless fight for justice, freedom, and cannabis policy reform. The award was presented by cannabis pioneer Mila Jansen, affectionately known as “The Hash Queen.” Jansen, a trailblazer since the 1960s, revolutionized hash-making with her invention of the Pollinator and has inspired generations of activists and entrepreneurs with her fearless leadership in the cannabis industry.

In addition to her keynote, Bailey also joined a distinguished panel on May 17 titled “Cannabis and Its Impact on Justice, Education and Social Media.” The discussion explored the broader societal implications of cannabis reform, featuring voices from the U.S., Portugal, Brazil, and Poland, and underscoring the global movement toward justice-centered cannabis policy.
