WASHINGTON — With federal cannabis reform at a pivotal juncture, the board of directors for the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) unanimously elected Adam Rosenberg, a seasoned industry leader and advisor to the Vlasic cannabis portfolio, as the first-ever board member to serve as chairman in his first term. Rosenberg’s appointment signals NCIA’s commitment to accelerating policy change and unifying businesses as federal discussions intensify.
Rosenberg’s journey in cannabis began in a pain management clinic, where he saw patients turn to cannabis for relief. Recognizing its transformative therapeutic potential, he pivoted from medicine to cannabis advocacy and business, committed to making safe, affordable access a reality. While attending the University of Michigan, he founded the first student organization focused on education and professional development in the cannabis industry.
A longtime advocate for cannabis policy and plant-based innovation, Rosenberg has shaped strategies for major companies like Vlasic Bioscience, the cannabis and hemp conglomerate founded by the Vlasic family of pickle fame. Together with Rosenberg, Vlasic Bioscience is expanding its support for NCIA, including a partnership on the upcoming “Vlasic Classic” charity golf events.
With experience spanning the entire cannabis supply chain, investment, education, and regulatory policy, Rosenberg brings a unique perspective to NCIA’s leadership. His ability to connect legacy operators, emerging businesses, and major investors will play a crucial role in strengthening industry unity at a time when federal reform is within reach.
NCIA strengthens leadership as federal reform gains traction
As the largest cannabis trade association, NCIA has led efforts to push federal legalization forward. With bipartisan discussions intensifying, the organization is focused on ensuring businesses—large and small—have a voice in shaping policy.
Rosenberg’s election as chairman comes as NCIA prepares for its 13th Annual Cannabis Industry Lobby Days, taking place in Washington, D.C., May 13-15. The event will bring together business leaders, advocates, and policymakers to advance critical reform such as SAFER Banking, 280E tax relief, and rescheduling. Rosenberg’s expertise will be instrumental in guiding these conversations and amplifying the voices of cannabis operators at the national level.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Adam at such a crucial moment for federal cannabis policy,” said Aaron Smith, NCIA’s CEO and co-founder. “His deep industry knowledge, commitment to plant-based innovation, and hands-on experience across the cannabis supply chain will be invaluable as we continue our fight for fair regulations and economic opportunities for cannabis businesses of all sizes. With Lobby Days on the horizon, Adam’s leadership will help strengthen our collective voice as we push for long-overdue federal reforms.”
Bridging business, policy, innovation
Rosenberg’s experience across cannabis, hemp, and natural wellness makes him a key addition to NCIA’s leadership team. In his role at Vlasic Bioscience, he has focused on expanding consumer access to plant-based alternatives, reinforcing his belief in nature-driven solutions for health and sustainability.
He also spearheads Vegan Minerals, a company dedicated to sustainable plant-based nutrition as a preventative form of medicine, aligning with NCIA’s broader mission of supporting responsible and innovative industry advancements.
Defining moment for cannabis industry
As the industry approaches a historic inflection point, NCIA continues to rally businesses, advocates, and policymakers to drive meaningful change and support long-term industry growth.
“With the right policies in place, this industry can become a model for innovation, economic growth, and responsible regulation,” said Rosenberg. “NCIA has been instrumental in leading that charge, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members to create a better future.”
