SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Pacific Stone, a premier seed-to-sale company producing 6.5 percent of the licensed California market’s cannabis flower, announced the appointment of Angela Cheng as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Ted Whitney as Vice President of Sales. Both executives have extensive experience across several industries including cannabis, spirits and consumer packaged goods, and will spearhead brand growth initiatives in their new roles.
“We are excited to welcome both Angela and Ted to the Pacific Stone family following a banner year in 2021, and we look forward to leveraging their insights as we continue scaling with new product launches and an expanded brand footprint,” said Skip Motsenbocker, CEO of Pacific Stone. “Both are accomplished executives who bring a wealth of diverse experience to our company. I’m confident that our expanded leadership team will be positioned for sustained success while solidifying Pacific Stone’s status as an innovative household name in California’s cannabis market.”
As Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Pacific Stone, Cheng will lead brand marketing for the top flower and pre-roll brand in California and also lead strategy across trade, public relations, digital, social and experiential. She joins Pacific Stone with over two decades of brand marketing experience creating consumer and trade advocacy programs for some of the largest global spirits conglomerates, including Diageo, Bacardi and Moët Hennessy.
“While California’s cannabis marketplace is highly competitive, the category generates deep affinity with consumers which makes marketing in this space both challenging and rewarding at the same time,” said Cheng. “I am excited to take the Pacific Stone family of brands to the next level as we find unique and innovative ways to connect with consumers.”
Ted Whitney also joins Pacific Stone as Vice President of Sales with over a decade of experience in both the cannabis and craft beer industry. Previously, he served as the Vice President of Retail Operations of NUG, a vertically-integrated California cannabis company, where he spearheaded brand innovation initiatives. Prior to NUG, he was the Director of Sales at craft beer companies, including Avery Brewing Company, 21st Amendment Brewing and Melvin Brewing.
“Pacific Stone’s reputation for providing top-quality flower speaks for itself, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of a team that is intentional about creating an exceptional product and workplace,” said Whitney. “I’m passionate about working to build sales practices and infrastructure that support the success of our teams by focusing on the success of our retailers and health of the whole industry. We’ve got an opportunity to create space where everyone can thrive.”
These leadership appointments follow recent announcements regarding Pacific Stone’s continued success and growth in California. In November 2021, the brand was recognized in the Top Selling Flower, Top Selling Pre-Roll and Fastest Growing Pre-Roll categories in the fourth annual LeafLink List.
