BOSTON — The Heritage Club (THC), the first Black Woman owned cannabis premium cannabis dispensary in Boston opens its doors to customers at its first location in Charlestown, off of Cambridge Street. The dispensary will carry premium cannabis products from trusted local and national brands such as David Ortiz’s new Papi Cannabis line of products and River Run.
“Diversity is the core of the brand,” said Nike John, founder of The Heritage Club. “From the product lines to our employees and our non-profit partners, THC is rooted in providing an inclusive experience that makes everyone in our community feel safe.”
The Heritage Club consultants are trained to provide a streamlined experience that takes a careful approach to education. Consultants understand they are a key education tool for the cannabis industry and treat every sale as an opportunity to teach users safe consumption habits and more about the benefits of the cannabis plant.
“We recognize that as a dispensary we are often the only formal educators on safe cannabis consumption, so we’ve ensured our front-of-house staff are experienced consultants that provide the best customer service and instructions on safe consumption practices,” added John.
As a Social Equity Business and recipient of a social equity grant, the dispensary aims to promote justice and fairness within social policy and is actively working with its non-profit, The Heritage Home Foundation, to help those affected by the war on drugs.
John is the youngest dispensary owner in the state of Massachusetts. She felt called to reinvent what it meant to be a black business owner in the cannabis industry. Cannabis has long been a taboo topic for people of color and there are still many behind bars for cannabis crimes. When she did not see many others who looked like her owning businesses in the cannabis space, she felt a calling to change this.
The dispensary is prohibition themed and designed like a speakeasy to honor how far cannabis has come since it was first restricted in 1911. Massachusetts was the first state to ban cannabis on the state level.
The Heritage Club is hosting a launch party at its Charlestown location, on October 8th. The community is encouraged to attend. The event will feature food trucks, product giveaways, a ribbon cutting ceremony and more.
The dispensary is located at 116 Cambridge Street, and features free parking, an ATM for easy cash withdrawals and private consultation booths. The property will soon feature a game room and community event space.
