BigMike’s Super Bowl Party Tackled by the City of Los Angeles

“I’ve been forced to turn the Super Bowl party into the Super Bowl lawsuit,” Michael “BigMike” Straumietis promised at a press conference yesterday in front of his Hollywood Hills mansion, where his biggest ($1M) no-expenses-spared event yet was scheduled to take place today.

BigMike’s parties have quickly become legendary in a town of over-the-top parties. Past events (see the pics) have been sensory sensations featuring entertainment and “party favors” like a drink server suspended in a chandelier pouring champagne, passed hors d’oeuvre trays full of joints, a roll-your-own bar for the DIY crowd and a bottomless seafood buffet that would rival the fanciest Beverly Hills bar mitzvah.

“Clearly my neighbors [many of whom have attended his past parties, according to BigMike] are being used as scapegoats by high-ranking officials in the city of Los Angeles, as a continuing pattern of bullying and intimidation, solely because we are in the cannabis industry” he said. “Authorities have issued a ‘stop work order’ and threatened to arrest one of my executives should we not comply with the order.”

The Advanced Nutrients CEO isn’t letting this setback slow him down. BigMike canceled the party but announced that he has launched the Cannabis Freedom Fund with a personal $100,000 donation, and he implored industry leaders to get involved. The fund’s mission: to find, develop, and install pro-cannabis candidates at all levels of government. And in his signature fashion, BigMike got in the last word. “Cannabis is going to be bigger than the NFL in 3 years,” he said. “Over $20 billion dollars.”
