The rainy weather in Santa Rosa over the weekend didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits at the Emerald Cup. Father-daughter dynamic duo Tim and Taylor Blake’s sun-grown, organic cannabis competition and festival manages to get larger and more complex each year. Yet the iconic event retains its unique, authentic vibe. How unique? Willie Nelson made his first-ever appearance at a large-scale cannabis event at this year’s Cup at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds and was honored for his longtime cannabis activism. mg was there, handing out our December issue featuring a candid conversation with Tim and Taylor, catching up with old friends, making new ones and cheering on the competitors. Humboldt’s Ridgeline Farms took home the Best Licensed Sun-Grown award for its Green Lantern strain, followed by Humboldt’s Rebel Grown and Mendocino’s Tar Hill as runners up. See the complete list of winners, check out our gallery below, and read our full recap of the show.
