Humboldt Seed Company (HSC) has partnered with Montego Bay-based Pure Jamaican at GI Life Farms to produce cannabis seed for on-island sales, for export, and for R & D purposes. In collaboration with Ed Rosenthal, Master Grower and Dr. Machel Emanuel, Principal Investigator of the Life Sciences Cannabis Research Group at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Ben Lind, Chief Science Officer at HSC is working to modernize the pure Caribbean Sativa genetics. Lind is also trialing crosses of the classic HSC Northern California genetics with the goal of creating strains specifically adapted to the challenging Caribbean growing climate. All the work being undertaken is in close collaboration with the Trelawny Maroon Tribe.
