New York Verilife Patients Donate $20,000 of ‘Spare Change’ to Support U.S. Veterans Organization

BUFFALO, NY –

Patients of Verilife dispensaries in New York reached into their pockets during the last two quarters of 2022 to donate the spare change from their dispensary purchases to WNY Heroes, a nonprofit organization that provides financial support and other assistance for U.S. Veterans in the Western New York area. The final tally of donations from Verilife patrons added up to a whopping $20,016.18 that will be used to help veterans, members of the armed services and the widows and children of deceased veterans through access to essential services, financial assistance and resources that support their lives and sustain their dignity.

“Verilife is so grateful for the generosity of our patients, who were vocally supportive of WNY Heroes when they heard we were supporting this important organization with their roundup donations,” said Kevin Harbison, Manager of Clinical Services and Regulatory Operations for Verilife. “The community really responded to WNY Heroes efforts and expressed how important they felt it was to have an easy way to help fund such a deserving non-profit.”

U.S. Army Veteran Chris Kreiger, who suffered severe injuries while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom, co-founded WNY Heroes after facing financial and emotional difficulties during his transition back into civilian life. He now serves as President of the organization and understands the important role WNY Heroes serves to provide the needed services Veterans and their families need and deserve.

“WNY Heroes exists to ease the difficult transition from combat to civilian life, and eliminate the hardships and complications that too many of our Veterans continue to experience in America today,” Kreiger said. “The money raised by Verilife’s generous customers will do so much toward relieving the many hurdles Veterans face every day in so many aspects of their lives. We are filled with gratitude for this amazing donation.”

Verilife’s “round up” program asks patients to round up purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the resulting spare change to a designated charity. Donations resulting from purchases made during the first two quarters of 2023 will be distributed to the Veterans Cannabis Project and can be made by rounding up purchases at all Verilife New York locations through June 30, 2023.
