LOS ANGELES – Cannabis pre-roll brand Jeeter teamed up with National Lampoon for a collaboration that blends cannabis culture with comedy. The collaboration launched with the first short film “National Lampoon Presents The Jeeter Potluck,” featuring former NFL players Ricky Williams and Calvin Johnson Jr. “The Jeeter Potluck” debuted Super Bowl Sunday, February 9, on Jeeter’s YouTube channel.
National Lampoon’s decades-long legacy of blending humor and pop culture aligns seamlessly with Jeeter’s bold and creative brand vision for a crossover that will resonate with audiences from both the sports and entertainment worlds. The short film aims to bring National Lampoon’s legendary wit and humor into the digital era with fresh, cutting-edge storytelling, marking a fusion of classic humor and today’s filmmakers
“National Lampoon has been building a new wave of comedy content, and this collaboration with Jeeter is an exciting extension of that vision,” said Demetrius Spencer, CEO of National Lampoon, and Nick Spencer, Producer at National Lampoon. “Lukasz and Sebastian, the Co-Founders of Jeeter have an incredible ability to connect with their audience effortlessly — an audience that has been underserved and hungry for fresh, funny, and relevant content. With their entrepreneurial spirit, massive reach, and deep cultural connection, it aligns perfectly to co-create smart, edgy, and engaging comedy that speaks directly to this audience and more. Together, we’re expanding the boundaries of entertainment in a way that blends Jeeter’s bold brand identity with National Lampoon’s legacy of humor and storytelling.”
The comedic short follows the two football greats, who play neighbors invited to a “big game” watch party and potluck. The fun begins when Johnson and Williams misunderstand the type of “pot” they are supposed to bring. Inspired by the pages of Lampoon Magazine, the short brings the same clever humor and cultural edge that has made the brand an enduring staple in comedy.
“As kids, we all dreamt of being actors or making movies one day. It’s one of the reasons we moved to Los Angeles. Over the years, we’ve worked on smaller projects, but teaming up with National Lampoon, a brand we grew up watching, to create movies that make people laugh and enjoy a smoke is a dream come true. Comedy has always been our favorite genre, and to bring it to life with a brand we built is a full-circle moment for us,” said Jeeter co-founders and co-CEOs Lukasz Tracz and Sebastian Solano.
Hall of Fame duo
In this exclusive collaboration, Williams and Johnson bring their larger-than-life personas to the screen. Williams, a former NFL running back, Heisman Trophy winner, and founder of cannabis lifestyle brand Highsman, is a vocal advocate for cannabis and has been a game-changer in challenging stigma around athletes and marijuana use. Johnson, affectionately known as “Megatron,” is a former Detroit Lions wide receiver, member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and co-founder of Primitiv which has dispensaries located in Michigan and Boston. Together, their star power and infectious chemistry elevate the comedic storyline of the short.
“Partnering with Jeeter and National Lampoon for this project has been a great experience, and it was a lot of fun being able to collab with Ricky,” said Johnson. ““Primitiv aims to reshape outdated cannabis perceptions by showcasing its healing power and creating products that enhance wellness. I’m proud to be part of a project that blends football, comedy, and cannabis into something unforgettable.”
“Working with National Lampoon has been such a chill experience. The teams went all out to make sure the production was first class and I’m excited for the fans to see what we put together,” said Williams. “Calvin and I had a great time on set and collaborating with Jeeter – bringing together sports, cannabis and now comedy is really what it’s all about.
